I am first and foremost a mom to two beautiful children. I never knew what love was until I became a mom. In fact, one of them is sitting on my lap right now as I type this. It’s hard work and overwhelming at times, but very worth it. I have been happily married for almost 10 years. I am very blessed to have found someone that lets me be me and who is a source of never ending encouragement.
I grew up in a suburb of a large city, and I grew up a reader. My mom is also a reader and passed that love down to me. I was that kid with the flashlight, under the covers, in the middle of the night. Reading was very much an escape for me as a child, an adventure, and still is! I’ve worked in libraries for over 20 years. Not everyone gets to have their dream job, so I am very blessed to be able to be around books all day! Reader’s advisory has become so easy for people to do themselves, that I don’t really get many requests at work for book recommendations, so this blog is a new way for me to express my love of books and to vent on books that I have read.
I have always been a foodie – anything related to food I am interested in whether it’s cooking, watching other people cook, restaurants, magazines, cookbooks, etc. I have recently gotten involved in the Keto/Paleo movement, which has lead to many, many conversations, part of the reason why I have created this blog. Showing people the correct way to eat and the healthy way to lose weight and keep it off has quickly become a passion of mine. Although I try to eat healthy most of the time, I love eating out and trying new restaurants, so don’t be surprised if you see an ultra unhealthy foodie post every now and then.
My other passion is crafting. Whether it’s crochet (my fave!), scrapbooking, quilling or whatever I happen to be into at the moment, the feeling of creating something with your own hands is very unique. Gifting someone with something that you’ve made means so much more than anything bought at a store.
This blog will be 80% book related, but I will try to relate my food and crafting posts back to books somehow. There is always a book I can recommend in just about every situation.
